Another day, another kick in the debris for Games for Windows Animate, as IO Interactive has revealed that Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days has dropped Microsoft's more than-maligned online arrangement in favor of Steamworks.

The original Kane &adenylic acid; Lynch: Dead Men didn't get along so well on the PC, in component because of the crashes and connectivity issues related with the Games for Windows Live service of process, which it used for DRM and multiplayer support. Microsoft's questionable online service South Korean won't be an issue in the sequel, however, because the developer has decided non to get to with it.

"None," said IO Interactive Game Director Kim Krogh when asked if Games for Windows Live problems would plague Kane &adenylic acid; Lynch 2. "We're using Steamworks." Steamworks, of course, is a suite of growing tools released by Valve that supports everything from re-create protection to social networking options through the hugely popular Steam online serve.

Kane & Lynch 2 is the irregular high-visibility game to empty GfW Live in recent weeks; earlier this month, Bethesda announced that Fallout: Unaccustomed Vegas had also made the switch to Steam clean. Microsoft recently re-sworn to the PC gaming scene (yes, again) and clearly, it has its puzzle out trim out for it.
